The sensor decides what the system can see. Ultrasonic sensors see transparent film. Infrared sensors see porous webs that sound passes through. The CCD sensor follows a printed line instead of the physical edge.

For highly reflective foil, choose ultrasonic: specular reflection can blind an infrared sensor.
CCD line sensor
For guiding on a printed line or printed edge.
When the print must stay in register with a downstream process, the physical edge may not be the right reference. The EDV-01 camera locks onto a printed line or the edge of a printed area and guides on that instead. Teach the target on its built-in screen, then switch to automatic.
